For some people attending appointments in person may be impractical or present personal difficulties. Skype therapy offers an alternative, and can be used as a stand alone option or combined with meeting up in person. Skype therapy is exactly the same as face-to-face counselling, except that it is by video. The cost of the therapy session is the same, using Skype is free for video calls.

What is skype?: Skype is software that you can easily and safely download off the internet for free. It allows you to make free video calls to anyone across the globe who uses Skype, including myself. This works a bit like face-to-face video conferencing. You can use video Skype on your PC, laptop, TV and even your mobile phone.

Confidentiality:  Once your computer and internet settings are secure, you will also need to consider how private you will be when you have your Skype counselling session. To help you speak more freely, you will need to be confident that nobody can overhear you or interrupt the session. You need to consider when you can be alone in front of your computer for 50 minutes a week.
